Britons fear the shadows of net crime
October 10th, 2006A governement study suggests citizens fear online crime more than offline. It found 21% of those polled felt at risk of the former, while only 16% worried about burglaries.
In other words, people fear what they know they can’t see, feel, or touch - they know online crime is usually a surprise they find out about months later. More than half had internet connections and did banking online - they know that getting ripped off as a result is not going to release defensive adrenaline - they think they are defenseless.
The problem is, they’re not.
