Anthony Greco, the teenager who tried to extort money out of MySpace.com, has plead guilty to attempting to damage a computer system with “intent to extort.” This is tantamount to an admission of stupidity.
This is just the latest of the “build something damaging, then try to extort money from the target” idea (remember Michael Bradley and Google? If not, here is a memory jogger – Man arrested for Google extortion attempt). It is such a stupid idea, that I predict we will see more – stupid people never learn, because, well, they are STUPID!
It is a shame such technical talented folks can’t find a more productive outlet for said talent. Now they get to print license plates instead of source code from their compilers.
