Washinton State outlaws spyware

In this bill just passed by the State of Washinton, spyware is being outlawed, and big fines are in the midst.

Among the laws finer points, changing browser settings, perpetuating popups, and intentionally thrwart user attempts to avoid software installations are all in the mix.

Whether the state will actually be able to enforce this ban is beyond me, but if Miscrosoft’s recent legal actions (on too many fronts to even provide links, so check via Spamroll search), I suspect some big names in the adware/spyware world may be the next targets.
