America Online is making a point of shoving its spammer hunting prowess back in the perpetrators’ faces. How? By giving the plunder away in a sweepstakes drawing. Included in the raffle are a Hummer H2, roughly $75,000 in cold hard cash, and a bunch of gold bars (that were purported once the spammers hidden treasure).
Great PR move for AOL, but I’d rather they donate the money to some thinktank hell bent on conjuring up a foolproof spam filter. I doubt the winners, whomever they turn out to be, will agree with me.
