Alan Paller, director of the SANS Insitute, says the Chinese military is responsible for hacking of US government and related industry networks.
If you were a hacker with the skills to crack (hopefully) secure networks at government installations, you likely know enough about security to realize you chances of getting caught are a lot higher than hacking some half-baked ecommerce site.
But if you are the sitting in some small province in China, even covered by a big investment in penetration and stealth technologies, you know your chances of getting caught are still better than nil, but who the hell cares.
Then again, with everyone always picking on China for their security woes, this could all be more of the same, the blame game. Speaking purely on “chance,” the attacks could still be coming from the USA.
