RBLs On Sale Now!

It was only a matter of time before anti-spam software providers saw the value in real-time blackhole lists. So without further ado, Trend Micro has bought Kelkea (formerly MAPS). Trend Micro will likely be providing add-on anti-spam services, under its own name, sometime later in the year.

AOL gets blacklisted, then MAPS pulls the plug

A few weeks back, Spamroll posed the question as to whether real-time blackhole lists like MAPS might need a little outside supervision. RBLs have a lot of power, and Brian McWilliams highlighted just how much pull they have in AOL lands on spam blacklist.

Does MAPS need a guidedog?

According to spammers, the folks who run RBLs (Real Time Blackhole Lists) are terrorists lurking in the shadows, pouncing on unsuspecting small internet merchants, and blocking the IP addresses of entire continents at the drop of a hat. That just isn’t true, but it also doesn’t mean that RBLs won’t ever need some checks and balances either.
